Copernicus Marine Service Ocean State Report

Articles of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ilıcak, a faculty member of the Department of Climate and Marine Sciences, was accepted to Copernicus Ocean State Report. Section 2.9. titled ‘’The Black Sea overturning circulation and its indicator of change’’, include two articles from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ilıcak.

TUBITAK Grant to EIES Students

Eurasian Institute of Earth Sciences PhD students Arzu Güler, Burcu Boza, Emir Toker, Neriman Erdem, Onur Altınay, Seçkin Fidan and Tunahan Aykut were awarded the TUBITAK 2214-A International Research Fellowship Programme to conduct part of their doctoral research abroad.

Germany-Turkey Bilateral Cooperation Project Support

Ph.D. Candidate Presentation (OSPP) Award – EGU 2022

Aydoğan Avcıoğlu, a Ph.D. student at Solid Earth Department, received The 2022 Outstanding Student and Ph.D. candidate Presentation (OSPP) Award in the presentation entitled: ‘’Seasonal influences on weathering processes in Turkish Badlands: Laboratory-based climate experiments’’ in the European Geoscience Union General Assembly (EGU).

Associate Councilor to the World Association of Soil and Water Conservation (WASWAC)

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tolga Görüm, a faculty member of the Eurasian Institute of Earth Sciences, Solid Earth Department, has been appointed as an Associate Councilor by WASWAC Executive Committee as a member of the World Association of Soil and Water Conservation (WASWAC).

Georg Forster Research Award

Prof. Dr. Attila Çiner, a member of the Solid Earth Department is honoured by Humboldt Foundation Georg Forster Research Award for his outstanding teaching and research record.

The 10th Quaternary Symposium of Turkey (TURQUA-2022)

The 10th of Turkey Quaternary Symposium (TURQUA-2022), which brings together experts in a wide spectrum of fields ranging from Geomorphology to Archaeometry, Paleoanthro-pology to Prehistory, Geology to Climatology, was held on November 2-4, 2022 at Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center in Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Ayazağa Campus, Maslak.
